Introducing Ms. Goldschmidt

Dear Families of 6-305 and 6-428,

Valuing education is a key component in ensuring our students are successful learners. At PS/IS 102, your child’s education is our primary concern and we always want to make sure that the best teachers are available to your children.

I am pleased to introduce the newest member of our middle school staff, Ms. Michelle Goldschmidt, who is taking over for Ms. O’Hara. Ms. Goldschmidt comes to us from one of our neighboring schools in District 24. Last year, Ms. Goldschmidt was a 6th grade ICT teacher at PS 153 in Maspeth. She will be working with Ms. McCabe in Math and Ms. Ranzie in Science.

We are excited to have her bring her knowledge of Go Math and the New York State Science curriculum to our 6th grade class.

Ms. Goldschmidt is dedicated to the success of all of her students and we are happy to have her join the 102 family.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

FAMILY NIGHT: September 26th, 2017

To Our 102 Families,

Welcome back!

102 is a special place, there’s no doubt about it. We’re special not because of our test scores, our beautiful facilities, or the incredible talent we have amassed in our staff. These are all byproducts of the one key ingre

dient we are most proud of:

We appreciate and we care about one another.

It’s this gratitude and trust we share with one another that enables our children to succeed, and we all thank you for allowing us to be a part of your children’s lives.

Tuesday, September 26th is Meet the Staff Night, and you will be able to meet with your child’s teachers and other support staff. Your teacher will also share with you our schoolwide work around personalize

d learning to support every student meeting the most important grade-level benchmarks.

Online programs, workbooks, before school learning, after-school enrichment, small-group instruction during the school day, ongoing guidance, whatever it is that a student may need we’ll do.

We look forward to sharing more information with you around this initiative and see you Tuesday!

2017-2018 Supply Lists

Supply lists for grades 3-5 are listed below (K-2 and 6-8 supply lists were sent home in June). As a Title I school, it is important for us to minimize as much expenses as possible for our families, and back-to-school shopping is an area we are looking into at the moment.

As a first step, we have significantly reduced the supply lists for grades 3-5 in 2017-2018. Items such as wet cleaning wipes, color pencils, post-its, and etc. have been removed. However, we welcome any families who’d wish to donate these items to their classes.
