WINTER PACKETS

All grades will receive a packet over the Winter Vacation. These packets were compiled to help students reinforce those skills they have learned during the school year. Please go over the work your child has completed in the packet and sign the front cover.

TESTING

Before you know it, it will be time for our children in grades 3-6 to take the New York State Standardized tests. The ELA test is usually given in January or February and the math test in March.

What can you as a parent do to help your child do well on these tests?

• Don’t be too anxious about a child’s test scores. If you put too much emphasis on test scores, this can upset a child.

• Encourage children. Praise them for the things they do well. If they feel good about themselves, they will do their best.

• Make sure they get a good night’s sleep. Rest, exercise, and eating well are as important to test taking as they are to other schoolwork.
